It was a stellar showing for the Central and East of England in this year’s 100 Best Local Restaurants list, with 16 earning a place among the country’s finest. Leading the way is Wild in Berkhamsted (No8 on the list and the region’s winner), where seasonal, ingredient-led cooking is shaped by its farm-to-table approach. Also recognised are Fern in Uppingham (No63), with its seasonal small plates, local produce and relaxed aperitivo style, and Margaret’s in Cambridge (No84), a modern British bistro focused on thoughtful cooking and ingredients from nearby producers. Together, they show why this region’s food scene continues to go from strength to strength – so make a note of these names for your next meal out.
