Opening next door to The Little Chatroom in Leith (previously occupied by the wine bar Mistral) Roberta Hall McCarron’s new café, bar and bottle shop will serve the likes of haggis tattie scones for breakfast, beef shin and cheddar toasties for lunch and heartier plates for dinner, accommodating a mix of bookings and walk-ins.

After leaving his post at Lunar at World of Wedgewood, chef Niall Keating is opening his new restaurant at Gary Neville’s Stock Exchange hotel in Manchester with a brasserie-style menu, afternoon teas, Sunday roasts and a chef’s table.

Jackson Boxer is set to continue his winning streak of restaurants with Henri at Covent Garden’s Henrietta Hotel. It’s the chef’s second collaboration with the Experimental Group after Cowley Manor in the Cotswolds and joins Jackson Boxer at The Corner in London’s Selfridges as well as his two flagship restaurants Brunswick House and Orasay.

Since closing his Exceptional-rated Raby Hunt, James Close has taken up the role of executive chef at Rockliffe Hall and is opening his summer residency, Terra, with bookings open between 13th June and 27th July. Expect premium ingredients with European accents.

Albatross Death Cult

Alex Claridge is opening a minimalist sibling restaurant to The Wilderness, serving a 16-course omakase-style menu focusing on seafood and coastal ingredients to just 14 guests.

The Village Pub

The Pig group are ready to open the ‘Village Pub’ in Barnsley, a few doors down from the 17th century Barnsley House, which is undergoing renovations to open as a new Pig hotel in September.

Sophie & Ben Crittenden have announced that their 12-seater 6-course tasting menu restaurant in Broadstairs will close on 31st May ahead of a move to West Mersea, Essex in June.

Santiago Lastra of Mexican fine dining restaurant Kol will open his second restaurant Fonda later this year. Located on Heddon Street in Mayfair, the focus will be on traditional, regionally specific dishes from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific coast in an informal setting.

Blacklock Manchester

Ex-Lawyer Gordon Ker will be opening the sixth site of his mini chophouse empire in Manchester. Located in the basement of a former textile warehouse on Peter Street the new restaurant will join the five sites across London serving up sustainably sourced british meats and generously portioned white chocoloate cheesecake with their famously good value pricing and great service.

Latitude Wine & Liquor Merchant

Top Leeds wine shop Latitude has moved to new, larger premises and opened a tasting room in the shop. With a minimum of 36 covers, service will run 5-11pm Wednesday-Saturday and 12-11pm on Sundays. On offer is a rotating selection of six red, six whites and six ‘others’ alongside cheese boards and charcuterie from Lishman’s.
