David Carter, of Manteca and Smokestak delivers his ode to the Greek islands with a menu based around crudo and open fire cooking. Tucked below the first floor restaurant at Borough Market is Agora - a no-reservations rotisserie spot using whole animals from Somerset and Cornwall.

After a short-lived run as 20 Berkeley, Endo Kazutoshi and his Creative Restaurant Group (Endo at the Rotunda, Sumi, Humo) are reopening the restaurant as NIJŪ, focusing on home-style Japanese cooking with the requisite dash of Mayfair decadence.

Opening among the buzzy stretch of restaurants on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, this all-day restaurant and wine bar will bring a uniquely Alsatian slant to the mix, with charcuterie and cheeses, sandwiches and homemade stews for lunch, and seasonal plates for evenings.

Santiago Lastra of Mexican fine dining restaurant Kol will open his second restaurant Fonda later this year. Located on Heddon Street in Mayfair, the focus will be on traditional, regionally specific dishes from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific coast in an informal setting.

Blacklock Manchester

Ex-Lawyer Gordon Ker will be opening the sixth site of his mini chophouse empire in Manchester.
