Our core mission at The Good Food Guide has always been to highlight the very best restaurants across Britain, and we’re increasingly focused on all aspects of eating out, especially when it comes to affordability. Dining out should be a pleasure that’s accessible to more people and it’s one of the reasons that we have chosen to launch Restaurant Month 2026. Running from 13th January to 13th February, this new initiative supports more than 350 restaurants across Britain that are offering great value set menus, to entice people in at this quieter time of year.

Why now is the right time to launch this initiative
January is a notoriously tricky time for those in the hospitality industry. This campaign is all about tempting people back into restaurants, right at the start of the year, with special offers that are just too good to resist.
With such a wide range of great value set menus on offer, we want people to see that January is one of the best times to go out and try a restaurant they’ve never been to before, or to support their local and put some enjoyment into what can otherwise be a depressing month.
The inspiration behind Restaurant Month 2026
The Financial Times’ Lunch with the FT campaign, that ran in the early 2000s, was my source of inspiration. As a student, those ‘lunch for £10’ offers opened doors to restaurants I otherwise couldn’t afford (and set me on a path to a career that I love). While £10 menus aren’t realistic today, the spirit of that campaign has been brought to life in Restaurant Month, where great value-led menus offer the same opportunities for discovery and exploration.
How it works – for restaurants and diners
For restaurants, it’s simple: offer one good value set menu. Many venues will be doing this already, but the public often don’t know about it, so we’ll be promoting these offers to our audiences and members via our emails, social posts and on our website throughout the course of Restaurant Month.
Diners can simply visit The Good Food Guide website where they’ll be able to see a list of all participating restaurants and their offers here - from two and three- course deals, to full-on tasting menus. They can choose where they fancy eating and click through to the restaurant to make a reservation. The list is long, but it’s worth going through, I’ve already got my eyes on the set menus at Café Murano, Arlington and The River Café.
What’s next for Restaurant Month
I hope this will become an annual event. This is the first time we’ve done this, so I’m sure there will be a few learnings for the future, but I really hope people enjoy Restaurant Month and it helps restaurants at the beginning of the year. I would love for it to one day become a real celebration of restaurants with perhaps some events, talks with chefs and restaurateurs…let’s see!
