Britain’s 100 Best Local Restaurants 2026: North West winners
Published 14 August 2026

There’s no doubt that the North West’s food scene is one of the country’s most exciting, and Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Local Restaurants 2026 has taken note. Nine local spots have made this year’s list, each led by chefs who not only cook brilliantly, but know their communities inside out. The region also has extra reason to celebrate: Gisburn’s La Locanda was named the overall winner.

Other North-Western notables include Manchester’s The Spärrows, which has carved out a name for itself with its Central European-style menu (check out their pierogi!). Bolete, tucked away in the Wirral town of Neston, keeps things simple and satisfying with a small, regularly changing menu, while The Yan, in the heart of the Lake District, offers a laid-back ‘bistro with beds’ experience that’s as much about the location (those views!) as the food. The cuisines on offer may be varied but one thing’s guaranteed: whichever of our winners you choose to visit, you can expect a warm welcome and a meal you won’t forget in a hurry.
