Skye Gyngell oversees the food at New Hampshire hotel, former chefs from The Dairy open new restaurant in Clapham and Soho institution launches first restaurant 75 years after opening its delicatessen

Skye Gyngell announced as culinary director of Heckfield Place

Skye Gyngell of London restaurant Spring has been named as the culinary director of new Hampshire opening Heckfield Place. Due to open in September, the hotel occupies a restored Georgian house set within gardens and farmland on a 400-acre estate. The hotel will have two restaurants, Marle and Hearth, the latter offering a seasonal set menu cooked over an open fire. 'Here it begins with the soil,' says Gyngell. 'Heckfield will feel like you’re being hugged — a feeling that’s in your plate of food.' Rooms will range from £350 to £10,000 per night.

Ex-Paradise Garage and The Dairy chefs open new restaurant in Clapham

Close to the world famous cricket ground, 24 The Oval is a new restaurant on Clapham Road run by a team with strong links to The Dairy and Paradise Garage. Serving ingredient-driven modern British food, the kitchen is headed up by Simon Woodrow (former head chef at Wild Honey and Paradise Garage) and George East, who used to cook at The Dairy. Dishes include mushroom ravioli, candied malt, sourdough crumb; and BBQ monkfish, smoked mussels, salsify, seaweed. There's also a seven-course tasting menu, priced at £38.50, and Sunday roasts.

Palomar chef to collaborate with designer Tom Dixon on new King’s Cross restaurant

Assaf Granit, the co-owner and chef of The Palomar and The Barbary is opening a new restaurant in London's King’s Cross this summer. A collaboration with top British designer Tom Dixon, the 160-seat Coal Office will overlook Granary Square and occupy three floors including a rooftop terrace. Part of Dixon’s complex of offices, studios and design shop, the restaurant will serve Mediterranean/Middle Eastern-inspired dishes and feature Dixon’s acclaimed lighting and furniture designs.

Ceviche’s Martin Morales opens new Peruvian restaurant and bakery

Martin Morales, the founder of Ceviche, which has branches in Soho and Old Street, has opened two adjoining businesses in Westbourne Grove. The Andina Panaderia Peruvian bakery serves brunch-style dishes all day and the menu at the 40-cover Andina Picanteria features Peruvian small plates such as chilli-pressed melon, black quinoa salad; hake, cassava, red peppers, and papaya and coconut flan.

Iconic Soho delicatessen Lina Stores opens first restaurant

A part of Soho life for the past 75 years, Italian delicatessen Lina Stores has just opened its first restaurant. With a menu inspired by the authentic ingredients sold in the Brewer Street store as well as fresh pasta made daily, dishes at Lina Stores - 51 Greek Street include spaghetti chitarra with baby clams and bottarga; gnocchi stuffed with fresh ricotta and white truffle, pappardelle with slow-cooked rabbit ragu.
