After working closely with Nathan Outlaw for several years, Tom Brown is set to open his debut restaurant in London
Cornus, the second restaurant from the owners of Medlar in Chelsea, isn’t in the most obvious of locations. As you walk along Eccleston Place, look for a large number 27 wall sign then head down the alley next to it. Turn right into the courtyard and you’ll immediately see the restaurant’s name in large white letters over the covered doorway to the Ice Factory building, a renovated warehouse in the Eccleston Yards development. Follow the signs down the corridor to the lift where the button for the top floor is clearly marked ‘Cornus’.

If making snuggly conversation over a table for two isn’t for you, then why not take a sideways approach? Choose a restaurant with counter or bar seating, pull up a high stool and sit next to your date. You’ll eat just as well, and longing gazes and sweet nothings can be interspersed with watching what might arguably be the more stimulating kitchen action
