The Crown Inn
Warwickshire, Harbury - Modern British - Pub - ££
Proper pub with a cheery vibe and decent food
Dominic and Joanne Weeks took on the Crown in 2025 and set about breathing life back into this stone-built village inn just by All Saints Church in a tranquil hamlet not far from Leamington Spa. Beamed ceilings and glossy wood floors make the dining area a welcoming retreat, and it isn't artificially separated from the convivial buzz of the bar. The kitchen takes a simple approach, with little tweaks to pub classics, smartly tailored to its clientele. Expect hearty soups, pork chops and bavette steaks, plus textbook fish and chips, as well as some appealing roasted fish such as skate, or a veggie cauliflower dish. Themed weeks are a draw, especially when Cornish week (which will surely come round again) has produced excellent Porthilly mussels in cider with a delicate waft of saffron. Is there toffee pudding, though? You bet there is (and quite often, too); otherwise, look to the fruit-laden lemon posset in summer. Sunday lunches are a prized local event. Keenly priced wines by the gla...
