Settling into its lovely new space just across the yard from its original premises on Maple Farm, this always-busy café has big plans for the future. Chef Alice Norman (ex-Clipstone and Emilia in London) still wows with her 'divine' crullers (flighty, fresh-fried choux-pastry doughnuts): try the elderflower version with black sesame. There's also lots of love for the choux au craquelin, filled to bursting with sweet-savoury custard made with local St Jude cheese. The coffee is excellent, gelati in homemade spelt cones are back on the menu, and once the massive new kitchen is up to speed, they will be offering pizzas by the slice (from 13 July 2024).
