A little 'plant-led' café with a big heart, Patch matches super-friendly service and generous cooking with a fierce commitment to its Colchester community – from a 'pay it forward’ meal-donation scheme to regular social events, and displays of local craftwork. The tiny kitchen works to a simple, good-value menu of brunch/lunch classics along the lines of Turkish eggs with creamy, garlicky labneh, wilted spinach and paprika-warmed sauce. Deploy the house-made sourdough or a side of perfect hash browns to ensure nothing scoopable is wasted. Lunchtime specials might feature spiced chickpea tagine, while fudgy vegan brownies and zesty treacle tart fly out during the day.
