Inis
London, Fish Island - Modern British - Restaurant
A whole new neighbourhood has sprung up on Fish Island in recent times, but until Inis (‘island’ in Irish) opened in 2024, it was a neighbourhood without a neighbourhood restaurant. This place fills the gap, opening early for locally roasted coffee, full Irish breakfasts and apple turnovers, progressing to salads, pork belly rolls and slices of Guinness cake for lunch. It steps up a gear at the weekend, when the bar gets busy mixing Inis Martinis and the kitchen doles out fried potato 'scallops' with curry sauce, roast chicken with morels, and red wine risotto – plus Sunday roasts. The setting – a town planner's idea of a piazza overlooking the canal – is surprisingly lovely, and friendly staff seem to know everybody.
