Dancing Man Brewery
Hampshire, Southampton - Modern British - Pub
There’s something of the bierkeller about DMB, sited in what is claimed to be Southampton’s last free-standing medieval warehouse, opposite the ferry terminal. Behind the impressive stone frontage is a capacious interior: ground-floor bar and brewery; first-floor restaurant. The varied choice of own-brews takes centre stage downstairs, with the vats clearly visible; try the Bone Dry IPA, a light pint that makes a fine accompaniment to the appetising pub food served in the restaurant. Here, a soaring wooden roof is the eye-catcher. Crab mornay (more like a creamy pâté) makes a gratifying opener, perhaps followed by a generous bowlful of tender brisket ragù with pappardelle, then a lemon tart with raspberry compôte. Posh lunchtime sandwiches and Sunday roasts are admirable alternatives.
