I’ve always loved the spirit of Too Many Critics, run in partnership with OpenTable, but this year feels particularly special, as, on 15 June, the event returns for its 25th anniversary, and I can’t think of a better setting than Claridge’s.
It’s being held at Dante, with the fabulous Andi Oliver hosting, and the premise is as brilliant as ever. Critics step out from behind their laptops and into the kitchen, cooking a multi-course dinner for a room full of guests and chefs-turned-judges. As well as myself, this year’s line-up includes Tom Parker Bowles, David Ellis, Hannah Crosbie, Hannah Twiggs and Matthew Fort, who’s been part of this charity since the very beginning.

What makes this so important to me, though, is the cause. The night raises funds for Action Against Hunger, whose work reaches millions both globally and here in the UK. Last year alone, the event brought in nearly £130,000.
Tickets are £275, including wines and a champagne reception, and there’ll also be a live auction on the night with some exclusive prizes up for grabs. If you’re tempted to join us, I’d book sooner rather than later. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this.

If you can’t be there in person but would still like to support this wonderful cause, there’s a silent auction that opens on 1 June with even more great prizes including private dining experiences, wine tours and luxury stays. You’ll be able to place your bid online after that date so keep checking back… and good luck!
