Bar Valette to open on Kingsland Road
The Clove Club’s Isaac McHale will launch his new venture, Bar Valette, this month in Shoreditch, East London. Bringing together influences of Southern French and simple Spanish cooking, the menu will consist of small plates for sharing alongside a drinks list including fine wines, continental sherries and cider. The opening team includes Clove Club alumni: leading the kitchen is head chef Erin Jackson Yates with restaurant manager Wilem Powell leading the front of house.
Uyare by Tharavadu
Victoria Gate’s rooftop restaurant space in the centre of Leeds (previously home to Issho until 2023) is being reopened by the Tharavadu team as Uyare in 2025. In a major scale-up from the original restaurant on Mill Hill, the new opening will accommodate up to 300 guests across a restaurant and separate bar space with a menu that sticks to the well-loved Keralan flavours of the flagship.
Swine Bistro
Elsewhere in Leeds, Jo and Stu Myers are on the move after a successful crowdfunding campaign to relocate The Swine that Dines. After a final service on North Street in December, they will be closed for January as they work on their new site, a former hairdressers, on Otley Road in the suburb of Headingley. The new restaurant will welcome an extra pair of hands in the kitchen with Kirsty Cheetham joining as head chef.
