Lyle's to open second site in Borough Market

James Lowe and John Ogier, the team behind Lyle’s restaurant in Shoreditch, are opening a second site. Called Flor, the duo say the wine bar and bakery will be inspired by the buvettes of Paris and the pintxos bars of San Sebastian. In-house baked pastries will be available in the morning, with sandwiches served lunchtimes and flatbreads available for dinner. The bakery at Flor will use British wheat milled at Lyle’s. Flor will open in the spring on the site previously occupied by Patisserie Lila on Bedale Street in Borough Market.

Harrogate's Restaurant 92 closes its doors

Michael Carr’s Restaurant 92 in Harrogate has closed its doors until further notice. In a statement posted to social media, Carr said he had ‘the unenviable task of telling our staff, customers and suppliers that we must cease trading with immediate effect’. Carr opened the restaurant three years ago after working for Alyn Williams at the Westbury and Gordon Ramsay. It is not yet known what future plans he has.

Owners of Bristol's Bravas to open Mexican restaurant

The owners of Bristol tapas bar Bravas are opening a new Mexican restaurant in the city. Kieran and Imogen Waite say Masa + Mezcal on Stokes Croft will server ‘fresh, innovative and artisanal Mexican food and drink’. The menu will be a collaboration between the owners and Carlos Rivas, a Mexican chef who currently heads up the kitchen at Bravas. The menu will allow diners to ‘graze’ through a range of smaller dishes or have larger Mexican-style family dinners. Meat or fish dishes will be from free-range, organic and ethically sourced produce and a separate plant-based menu will be available for vegan diners. Masa + Mezcal will open in the spring.

Nathan Outlaw to leave The Mariners after five years

Nathan Outlaw is leaving The Mariners in Rock, Cornwall, after five years at the restaurant. The Mariners was a partnership with Sharp’s Brewery, with a menu created by head chef Zack Hawke showcasing local meat and fish cooked over coals. The news comes just a month after Outlaw revealed that he is leaving London’s Capital Hotel after six years and opening a new seafood restaurant at the Goring hotel.
