Frog and Scot

Kent, Deal - French - Restaurant

Owned by a Frenchman and a Scotswoman (Benoit and Sarah Dezecot, the eponymous ‘Frog’ and ‘Scot’), this high-street restaurant comprises a large, convivial room filled with mismatched furniture. A blackboard lists various small plates, perhaps grilled sardines with rose harissa and burnt lime or hake crudo with pickled cucumber and capers – in 'great portion sizes for sharing'. Otherwise, go big with a bavette steak or 10oz sirloin (both offered with wild garlic salsa on our visit). To drink, well-chosen, well-priced European wines are augmented by cocktails and local Time & Tide beer. Pavement seating is a draw when the sun shines, and the owners also run Le Pinardier wine shop/bar a few doors down.
