It’s not hard to work out that Sooshi, tucked into a corner of Whitstable harbour’s South Quay Shed, is all about sushi (freshly made daily). A lockdown story of enthusiastic enterprise, it’s the place to pick up a beach picnic takeaway, perhaps, or a sit-down bite – there are a few simple tables. Salmon nigiri and spicy tuna maki (with sriracha mayo and crispy onions) are favourites, as are poké bowls, while daily specials take in the likes of duck hoisin gyozas or chilli and black bean ramen (with chicken, prawns or vegetables).
