*Owt has upped sticks and moved from LS1 to bigger premises on Burley Road LS3. The new set-up launched on 16 November 2023. Watch for a new review coming soon.*

If you’re not familiar with Yorkshire dialect, ‘owt’ means ‘anything’. It’s a suitably local moniker for a local set-up that started life as a tiny canteen on Leeds Kirkgate Market, selling offbeat lunchtime dishes based on produce from the market. More recently, Esther Miglio and James Simpson upped sticks and moved to a new home within the grandiose Victorian surrounds of Leeds Corn Exchange. Keeping company with fashion shops and jewellery stores, Owt is unmissable with its arched doorways done out in shades of blue and pink – a colourful theme that extends to the interior of the eatery. They don’t take bookings, so drop by for a late breakfast or come for lunch when the menu mixes eclectic ideas with more cheffy dishes. Hash brown buns, fried chicken sandwiches and 'big satay salads' go down well, or there might be Syke's House Farm sausages with mash, spring greens and vinaigrette – perfect with a bottle of IPA from the local Kirkstall Brewery. To finish, there are 'sweet treats' from Bake My Day. On Thursday evenings, Owt also hosts a (bookable) supper club menu: dishes such as rump of Yorkshire lamb with salsa verde and chips cry out for a bottle of their house wine, directly imported from Château Gasqui’s organic vineyard (owned by Esther’s father).
