This week's restaurant happenings...

Stevie Parle closes his original restaurant Dock Kitchen

Stevie Parle has closed his original restaurant, Dock Kitchen, after eight years. The surprise closure is a result of the lease on the Portobello Docks site coming to an end, although Parle plans to move the restaurant to another location in 2018. Parle said: 'We’re working on finding a new home for Dock Kitchen, or a version of it, in the spring of next year and in the meantime all of the team will be working at one of our other restaurants.' Until a new home is found for Dock Kitchen, staff will work at Parle’s other London restaurants: Palatino, Craft London, Pastaio and Rotorino. dockkitchen.co.uk

The Modern Pantry shuts its Finsbury Square site

Chef-patron Anna Hansen has closed the Finsbury Square site of The Modern Pantry after two years. The all-day Finsbury Square restaurant and bar opened seven years after the original site in Clerkenwell and Hansen says she wants to concentrate her efforts on the flagship. She said: 'The last two years have been a real learning curve for us but over the last year it has become hard to compete with other city offerings. I would never want to change, or take away, from the originality of what we do, hence the decision to close and really focus on Clerkenwell, as we come into our tenth year of operating.' themodernpantry.co.uk
