January launch for debut restaurant from ex-Barrafina chef

Sabor, the new restaurant, bar and asador from ex-Barrafina chef Nieves Barragan Mohacho and business partner José Etura will open on London’s Heddon Street at the end of January 2018. Sabor will have three distinct areas – a restaurant, bar and upstairs asador – with each space offering diners a different taste of Spain. Regional dishes from across Spain will include wild rabbit empanadilla, and octopus cooked the traditional Galician way with olive oil and paprika. saborrestaurants.co.uk

Second opening for the Kitty Fisher’s team

The team behind Mayfair restaurant Kitty Fisher’s is opening a second site in Covent Garden in spring 2018. Called Cora Pearl, the 60-cover restaurant will occupy two floors of the former Bella Italia site in Henrietta Street, close to Frenchie and Balthazar. kittyfishers.com

Soho House to relaunch iconic London restaurant Kettner’s

The Soho House Group, which also owns The Ned in the City, is relaunching the 150-year-old Soho restaurant Kettner’s. Due to open in January 2018, Kettner’s Townhouse will incorporate a restaurant, Champagne bar and bedrooms. The Grade II-listed French restaurant on Romilly Street was originally opened in 1867 by Auguste Kettner, chef to Napoleon III. kettnerstownhouse.com

Restaurant Story’s Tom Sellers to open second site

Tom Sellers, the chef-patron of Restaurant Story, has announced that he is to open a second restaurant in London. Called 13 - a reference to the numbers he has tattooed on his fingers - Sellers says the restaurant will be ‘aimed towards the youth of London, and not just the food: in art, in culture and in music’. restaurantstory.co.uk

Kirk and Keeley Haworth to open plant-based restaurant in Shoreditch

Siblings Kirk and Keeley Haworth - whose father Nigel runs Lancashire’s Northcote - are making their Plates pop-up permanent with a 30-cover site in Shoreditch opening in February 2018. Plates was inspired by the strict plant-based diet followed by Lyme disease sufferer Kirk, who previously worked at The Square and Pied à Terre. plates-london.com
