The Gardener's Cottage sits prettily in Edinburgh's Royal Terrace Gardens, bringing a rural vibe – and some fabulous food – to the heart of the city. Communal tables and a simple, daily-changing chalkboard menu create an informal feel, and the delightful kitchen garden and excellent wine list seal the deal. No wonder the praise has been pouring in for this Scottish star.
What a unique, refreshing place The Gardener’s Cottage is. A real neighbourhood gem offering a relaxed, sociable atmosphere and a menu built around ingredients that are sourced locally or grown in their own garden. Lovely staff and highly attractive prices are a bonus – all in all The Gardener’s Cottage has hit on a winning formula that our readers love. Well done to everyone involved on being crowned The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for Scotland.
Co-owners Dale Mailley and Edward Murray said of their win:
‘We are absolutely delighted to have won The Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year 2014 for Scotland. It is an honour to be recognised by such a prestigious guide and wonderful to know that our customers enjoy our food and service as much as we enjoy providing it.'
39,000 food-loving members of the public put forward their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés for the annual awards, and The Gardener's Cottage made it as one of ten regional winners from around the UK. But only one will go on to be named as the overall The Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year on Wednesday 19th June.
