How are the winners decided?

A whopping 39,000 food-loving members of the public put forward their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés from around the UK for the annual awards, either via postcards or using the online restaurant feedback form. The Good Food Guide award judges then verified all the nominations to pick the winners and celebrate some of the best dining experiences around the country.

The aim of the awards is to champion local neighbourhood eateries, and to qualify restaurants needed to be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible. The standard of entries this year has been very high, which is a great indicator of the many fantastic restaurants, pubs and cafés we have around the country offering outstanding cooking, stellar service and an all-round top-notch dining experience.

A tough choice ahead

Of the ten regional winners from around the UK, one will go on to be named as the overall The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year. The winner of this esteemed award will be announced on Wednesday 19th June 2013.

Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor of The Good Food Guide, said of this year’s regional winners: ‘These ten winners are all first-class local eateries and should be praised for doing what they are doing so well – congratulations to all of them. With such a strong bunch of regional champions, choosing the overall winner of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014 is going to be tougher than ever.’
